Pigeon Pea borders "The Mud", another Haitian settlement in the Bahamas with more than 2,000 Haitian families The according to recent news articles the pigeon pea settlement was built illegally on privately owned land in the Bahamas. On May 18 2010, the new owner of the five acre settlement, landowner Ricky Albury, started to serve eviction notices to Haitian residents of Pigeon Pea after securing the deeds to generational property left to the heirs of Nathan Key.
